Zero Offset

A wheel configuration where the mounting pad is positioned exactly in line with the wheel's centerline.

Zero offset is a specific wheel measurement configuration where the mounting pad of the wheel (where it bolts to the hub brake rotor or drum) is positioned exactly in line with the wheel's width centerline. In this setup, the wheel sits centered on the wheel hub assembly.

Wheel offset is measured in millimeters and determines how far inward or outward a wheel sits in the vehicle's fender. A zero offset wheel splits its width evenly: if a wheel is 8 inches wide, the mounting surface is exactly 4 inches from the outer rim lip and 4 inches from the inner rim lip. This configuration affects suspension geometry, scrub radius, wheel bearing load, and fender clearance.

Installing wheels with incorrect offset can cause the tires to rub against the inner suspension components (too much positive offset) or the outer fender lip (too much negative offset). It can also accelerate wheel bearing wear by shifting the load away from the bearing center. Technicians check wheel offset specs and scrub radius when installing aftermarket wheels to ensure safe steering handling.
