Valve Core Remover

A small screwdriver-like tool with a slotted tip designed to screw Schrader valve cores in and out of tire stems and air conditioning ports.

Inflating or deflating a tire through a valve core takes too long. A valve core remover lets you take the core out completely to speed up the process. The tool features a split tip that slots over the flat ears of the Schrader valve. You turn it counter-clockwise to remove the core and clockwise to reinstall. This tool is also used to change worn-out valve cores that are slowly leaking air. Always wear safety glasses when removing cores from pressurized A/C lines to protect against escaping refrigerant oil.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Most automotive Schrader valves use the same core size, but make sure the tool is clean to avoid getting oil on tire valves.
Tighten it snug by hand. Over-tightening will crush the rubber seal, causing it to leak.
If the tire or system is pressurized, the air will push the core out. Hold the tool firmly as you reach the last threads.
If your tire loses pressure slowly and spraying soapy water on the valve stem tip produces bubbles, the core is leaking.
