A Power Probe is an advanced electrical diagnostic tool that combines a digital voltmeter, a test light, and a power supply into a single handheld device. The tool connects directly to the vehicle's battery terminals via long lead cables. It features a digital screen showing voltage and a rocker switch that allows you to feed either 12-volt battery power or ground directly to the metal probe tip.
This allows you to test electrical parts without removing them from the car. If you want to see if a cooling fan, fuel pump, or window motor works, you touch the probe to the component's power terminal and press the rocker switch forward to apply power. The tool features an internal circuit breaker that trips instantly if you hit a short circuit, preventing wire fires and tool damage.
