Engine Oil Cooler Lines

Flexible and rigid hoses that transport engine oil between the engine block and the oil cooler to control temperature.

Engine oil cooler lines are hoses that transport engine oil from the oil pump/block to an external oil cooler and back. These lines are critical for high-performance, turbocharged, or heavy-duty vehicles that generate significant engine heat. They consist of a combination of rigid metal tubes for sections near hot exhaust parts and flexible reinforced rubber or braided steel hoses to accommodate engine movement.

The oil cooler lines must withstand high pressures and temperatures without leaking. Over time, the flexible rubber sections of the lines can dry rot, crack, or rub against other components, while the metal sections can rust.

A leak in an oil cooler line can lead to rapid loss of engine oil, resulting in a drop in oil pressure and potentially catastrophic engine failure if the engine is run dry. Mechanics inspect these lines for wet spots or seepage during routine oil changes and recommend replacing them at the first sign of degradation.
