A/C High Pressure Port
The service connection port on the high-pressure (discharge) side of the A/C system used to diagnose system pressures.
The A/C high pressure port is a service valve located on the smaller, hotter aluminum pipe of the A/C system (the discharge line running between the compressor and the condenser). It is used by technicians to measure the system's high-side operating pressure.
The high-pressure side of the system can reach pressures between 150 and 350+ PSI depending on ambient temperature. Monitoring this pressure is crucial for diagnosing blockages, expansion valve failures, or condenser airflow issues that can cause the A/C system to shut down.
To prevent accidents, the high-pressure port is larger than the low-pressure port, ensuring charging hoses cannot be connected to it. Like the low-pressure port, it contains an internal valve core that can leak, making a secure plastic cap necessary.
