V10 diesel engines use a glow plug in each cylinder. The cylinder 10 glow plug is located at the rear of the engine block. It heats the compressed air in that cylinder to ensure cold starts. Because cylinder 10 is at the very back of the engine bay, replacing this plug is difficult. Access is restricted by the firewall. A failed cylinder 10 glow plug causes rough starting and smoke.
